Deva Tarot
The Deva Tarot is designed around the deva (day-vah) - unseen life forms or intelligences that help to guide and sustain our world. Devas are also known by such names as fairies, gods, and guardian spirits. Deck designer Herta Drnec hopes that this deck will aid communication with the deva and the deeper layers of the psyche. The Deva Tarot has 93 cards due to an extra minor arcana suit - the triax. The triax suit represents spirt, the fifth "element" along with the traditional earth, air, water and fire. There is also an extra major arcana card called the Separator. Each card shows its number and name in German, English and French. The images are presented as if you are looking through a keyhole into another world. The card stock is a stiff cardboard which would be difficult to shuffle in a hand-held fashion. The instruction booklet by Roberta Lanphere provides an overview and interpretation for each card. The Deva Tarot is published by Piatnik in Austria.
