Tarot of the Journey to the Orient
The Tarot of the Journey to the Orient is based on the fabulous tales described by Marco Polo in his book The Travels of Marco Polo. This famous, 13th-century wanderer spent twenty-four years in the East, and on his return to Italy, he shared stories of the wonders he had seen. The scenes chosen by artist Severino Baraldi reflect traditional tarot themes. The major arcana cards blend the east and west, often showing parallel scenes from both cultures for comparison. The card name is given at the top in English and the bottom in four other languages. An instruction booklet is included, but does not specifically mention how the scenes relate to Marco Polo's adventures. This deck is produced by Lo Scarabeo in Italy, but is distributed in the US by Llewellyn.
