Tarot of the Master

[Star] [2 of Wands] The Tarot of the Master is the work of scholar, teacher and master of design - Giovanni Vacchetta. Vacchetta's signature can be found on a scroll on one card in every suit. In English, the scroll on the 2 of Wands (right) reads "Giovanni Vacchetta, born in Cuneo, sculptor, created these Naibi in Turin in the year 1893." Naibi is his choice of label for tarot. This deck has some intriguing features described in the instruction sheet. The denari suit (pentacles) shows the Roman emperors in chronological order. Roman leaders were traditionally depicted on coins. The 3 (below) shows the profile of Nero, Otho and Galba. Each card shows the image with the number and name at the top in Italian. Along the left border, a keyword meaning is given in five languages. The original deck was black and white; this version has been colored by Michela Gaudenzi. The Tarot of the Master is produced by Lo Scarabeo in Italy, but is distributed in the US by Llewellyn.
