Tarot of the New Vision
The Tarot of the New Vision offers a new spin on the traditional Rider-Waite...literally. Each card's image has been rotated 180 degrees, completely changing the perspective. Our view is now the opposite of the original, either looking out from behind key figures or facing them. With Card 2, we gaze from behind the veil past the High Priestess' back (left). Author Pietro Alligo and artists Raul and Gianluca Cestaro have also added new symbolic elements in formerly hidden areas. In the 5 of Swords (right), we see a ruined building that would have been out of sight originally, hinting of a destructive battle. The goal of the Tarot of the New Vision is to extend the meanings of the Rider-Waite. This deck is a "complement and completion." In an interesting twist, the two artists are twins. Their relationship echoes the meaning and purpose of this intriguing deck.
