Universe Cards

The Universe Cards by Kay Stopforth are based on the idea that the natural phenomena of the universe mirror human nature and destiny. Each of the 35 cards shows a photograph of a different astronomical body or event. At the bottom is the card's name and keyword meaning. The meaning reflects the nature of the phenomenon. For example, the Nebula: Star Birth card represents creation. The cards begin with the Earth card and move outward into ever larger realms, culminating in the Universe card. There are also cards for the four forces: gravity, electromagnetism, strong and weak. These represent timeless inner forces. Many of the photographs were taken by the Hubble Space Telescope. For each card, the instruction book gives the scientific background, an interpretation and a suggested activity to deepen understanding.
