Whimsical Tarot
The Whimsical Tarot is "for children and the young at heart." It is based on children's fairy tales, fables and myths. Each card shows a familiar scene from one of these stories that illustrates a popular meaning of that card. For example, Justice shows Baby Bear pointing out the "injustice" of Goldilocks sleeping in his bed. The structure and card titles are traditional for the tarot. Suit cards have color-coded borders. The page of each suit is not a person but a symbol of some item relating to that suit's theme. The artist is Mary Hanson-Roberts who also illustrated the popular Hanson-Roberts deck and colored the Universal Waite. There is a separate companion book for this deck called Whimsical Tarot. The book describes each card and which story or fable it is based upon.
