Visconti Tarots
The Visconti Tarots by Atanas Alexandrov Atanassov is a version of the Pierpont Morgan Tarocchi Deck, the most nearly complete of the existing Visconti-Sforza tarocchi decks of the 15th century. Seventy-four cards from this deck have survived. Four are missing: the Devil, Tower, Three of Swords and Knight of Coins. These four cards have been recreated to make a complete deck of 78. This edition has bright colors and hot-stamped gold foil highlights. The backgrounds on the court cards and major arcana have a golden shimmer, and certain cards have areas that are slightly raised (for example, the crown on the King of Wands). Card titles are printed vertically along the left-hand side in five languages. This deck is also available in a set that includes the companion book Visconti Tarots: Extraordinary Examples of Renaissance Art by Giordano Berti and Tiberio Gonard. This book describes the background and meaning of each card.
